No one may practice the profession of a doctor in Cameroon unless he or she is first registered with the Order.
This list is kept up to date by the Council of the Order and is regularly communicated to the supervisory authority, the prefectures, the town halls, and the courts.
The conditions for registration on the roll of the Order are as follows:
(a) Be of Cameroonian nationality and enjoy his/her civic rights.
(b) Be of full age.
(c) Hold a State or University diploma of Doctor of Medicine or any other diploma recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
(c) hold a State or University diploma of Doctor of Medicine or any other diploma recognized as equivalent by the competent authority at the time of submission of the application.
d) not have been convicted of any offense contrary to probity (theft, misappropriation of public funds, fraud, etc.)
of public funds, fraud, breach of trust, forgery, and use of forgeries) or
morality;
e) they have not been declared bankrupt or put into compulsory liquidation.
The application for registration on the roll of the Order shall be submitted in duplicate to the Council of the Order, against receipt.
The Council of the Order is required to decide on the application for registration on the roll of the Order, which is submitted to it within thirty (30) days from the date of its submission.
Any decision by the Council of the Order on an application for registration on the roll of the Order must be submitted to the supervisory authority for prior approval on the first working day following the decision. The supervisory authority shall have a period of thirty (30) days in which to make its decision. Once this period has elapsed, the decision of the Council of the Order becomes enforceable and must be notified to the applicant.
In all cases, after ninety (90) days from the date of submission of the application, the failure of the Council of the Bar to respond shall be deemed to constitute acceptance of the applicant’s application and his automatic registration on the roll of the Bar.
