POLITICAL OR ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

In accordance with section 32 (h) of the labour code of Cameroon, it is stipulated that the parties may agree to suspend their labour relations to permit the worker exercise the duties of Member of Parliament or member of government. The duration of such suspension shall be that of the mandate of the particular office assumed by the worker.

If the worker becomes a parliamentarian and still chooses to remain in his former employment, he will be barred from carrying out a paid government job. He may also decide to resign from his for employment or not to resign.

If he doesn’t resign, his former employment will be suspended for the duration of the time he will spend at the government office based on mutual consent such as a study leave.
