CATEGORIES OF ENTRY VISAS

Entry visas are classified in accordance with Decree No. 2007/255/PM of 4th September 2007 fixing the modalities for the application of Law No. 97/012 of 10th January 1997 relative to the conditions of entry, stay and exit of foreigners in Cameroon into four categories, to wit;

  1. The transit visa: The transit visa with multiple entries and exits can be granted to foreigners in transit. Its validity cannot exceed five days.
  2. The tourist visa: This is a visa valid for one or more entries and exits and may be granted to a temporary visitor who travels for tourism purposes, either as part of an organized trip or a package tour. Its validity may not exceed thirty days.
  3. The Temporal visa: This is a visa valid for one or more entries and exits and can be granted to a foreigner who stays in Cameroon. Its validity does not exceed three months.
  4. The Long stay visa: This is a visa valid for one or more entries and exits and can be accorded to a foreigner who envisages staying in Cameroon, which exceeds 3 months. However, its validity cannot exceed 6 months.

Entry visas cannot be transferred from one category to another.

They may only be extended in cases of force majeure and with the authorization of the delegate general for national security.

With the exception of the long-stay visa, no other visa entitles the holder to engage in a gainful or professional activity and to study in Cameroon.
