Leasehold or freehold allotments to International Bodies, Diplomatic or Consular Missions in Cameroon are engaged in accordance with Article 12 of Ordinance 74/2 of 6th July 1974. As per this legal provision, international bodies of which Cameroon is a member and diplomatic consular missions may become owners or tenants of state lands.
The international body or diplomatic mission concerned shall address an application to the Minister in Charge of Property, Surveys, and Land Tenure together with a plan of the land in question.
The application shall be transmitted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Diplomatic missions should indicate whether the government of the countries they represent have already granted similar rights to the Republic of Cameroon or are disposed to do so.
Such freehold or leasehold allotment shall be made by decree. Allotments under this decree shall not alienate the resources of the sub-soil, ownership of which is vested in the state.
